Full Description:
Anthem, Ariz. (Dec. 1, 2008) … David McPherson, 28, has been named worship pastor at Vineyard Church @ Anthem. He assumed his duties Dec. 1.
McPherson, who plays bass, acoustic, electric and dobro guitars, will lead worship at the 9 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services, as well as a once-a-month worship gathering held at 6 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month. He will also focus on developing the 18 to 29-year-old age group in the church.
“I think David will bring a fresh, young perspective to the worship team and he has the ability to take it to a new level,” said Senior Pastor Terry Tarleton. “He is a man of character with exceptional talents, abilities and pastoral experience for someone his age. I’m really excited about what he will do to minister to young adults.”
A Phoenix native, McPherson holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Grand Canyon University where he graduated at the top of his class, and a master of divinity degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. While in Texas, he served part-time as a worship leader for a local church and spent four months interning at Vineyard Music USA. For the past two years, he served as associate pastor at the church he attended while growing up: Vineyard Church North Phoenix in Glendale.
His wife, Ginger, currently teaches English at Phoenix Christian High School, and is pursuing her doctorate degree with plans to become a university professor.
McPherson is the church’s second full-time pastor. Vineyard Church @ Anthem is a non-denominational church that began with 12 people meeting in a home in June of 2001. Sunday morning services began in October 2001 at the Hampton Inn and, in February 2005, VCA moved to its current 4,000-square-foot facility at 42105 N. 41st Drive, two blocks south of the Hampton Inn.
